WHAT DID WE DO?

  • Set up a local group of orthopaedic consultants

  • Agreed in sourcing contract to flexibly use excess capacity (theatres and beds) at two hospital sites

  • From 0 to 100 patients operated on pcm

  • Over 250 people (nurses, physios, surgeons, anaesthetists, healthcare assistants and admin) engaged in

  • out-of-hours activity


WHAT DID WE ACHIEVE?

  • 30% reduction in total number of patients waiting

  • 10% R.T.T improvement

  • 50% reduction in total number of incomplete pathways

  • Patient satisfaction >95%

  • Significantly improved relationships between clinicians and hospital management

  • Allowed NHS Trust to repatriate work from private sector
