Professional profile

 

Mr. Hull is a highly trained Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon. His main elective interests are hip and knee replacements (including partial knee replacements) and knee arthroscopy. He undertakes all types of orthopaedic trauma surgery, but has specialist training in pelvic and acetabular trauma, and lower limb fractures.  He regularly fixes ankle and wrist fractures.

 

Mr. Hull went to medical school at the University of Birmingham, and undertook his orthopaedic training in the West Midlands.  He completed his fellowship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, a world-renowned trauma center, working with some of the most eminent trauma surgeons in the world. He perfected his skills in complex trauma surgery, including pelvic and acetabular (hip socket) surgery.  He also obtained further training in knee and hip replacement surgery.

 

Mr Hull has over 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals including research on:

 

• Knee replacements

• Knee arthroscopies

• Hip resurfacing

• Open fractures

• Medical Education

 

Research interests

 

Mr Hull is principal investigator in a number of national trauma trials including:

 

                              AIM – An ankle fracture trial comparing operative vs non operative management for older patients

 

                              WOLLF - Comparing different types of dressings for open fracture emergency treatment

 

 

Medicolegal

 

Mr Hull completes 2-3 medical reports a week for local and national solicitors.  He has a particular interest in completing reports on multiply injured patients, those sustaining pelvic and acetabular fractures, and those sustaining lower limb fractures.  This is in line with his specialist NHS trauma practice, and research profile.
