Professional profile

 

Alan Norrish qualified as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2007 and has practiced as a consultant since then, performing over 4000 operations.  He has a strong interest in charity work and since 2005 has spent 4 years doing full-time charity work in Malawi, Zambia, the Middle East and Afghanistan.  He makes regular trips to these areas to help train local surgeons.

 

Alan has had training in sports knee surgery and adult reconstructive surgery. He also has significant experience in limb reconstruction after trauma and in deformity and management of orthopaedic infections, complex trauma and patients with multiple injuries. He offers a full range of elective sports knee surgery, hip and knee replacement surgery and also complex trauma surgery on the lower limb.

 

Research interests

 

Alan Norrish has an interest in Medical Ethics and the Law.  He was awarded a Master of Laws (LLM) degree, with distinction, in legal aspects of medical practice from Cardiff University in 2007.He is currently a trustee of 2 national and international medical charities.
